My allergies come out of hibernation this time of year. This solution is the best thing I've ever found. I don't wake up stuffy and congested and I don't take allergy meds any more. It is so simple too!

Air Purifiers for Allergies

If you suffer from indoor allergies, you are not alone. 40-50 million Americans are allergic to invisible airborne particles. I suffered from itchy red eyes, sneezing, itchy skin and post-nasal drip in my own home for years. Anti-histamines wore me out, so I was grateful to find out that air purifiers are a natural remedy for allergies.

Ultra-Quiet Air Purifiers

If you fear that air purifiers are big, unwieldy and ugly, you need to see the Rabbit Air air cleaners. Rabbit Air purifiers are ultra-quiet and stylish. The SPA-421A is a thin, designer-styled unit that comes in 4 colors (click here to see the review of the SPA-421A).

Features You Need in Air Purifiers for Allergies

When you are comparing air purifiers for allergies, here are some features you should look for:

  • Number of fan speeds: The more, the better. Noise level increases with higher fan speeds, and it’s nice to have a few lower-volume speeds.

  • Pre-filter: If you have pets, a pre-filter keeps the HEPA filter from getting clogged with hair.

This is a beautiful site, artistic and thoughtful. The quotes go a little off the mainstream. They celebrate being different, and different can be cool.

Wed, 02 Feb 2011 19:22:17 -0800 Housebreaking a puppy once and for all http://lifescribe4.posterous.com/housebreaking-a-puppy-once-and-for-all http://lifescribe4.posterous.com/housebreaking-a-puppy-once-and-for-all

It takes persistence and commitment to potty train a puppy. It's good to find a post that paints a realistic picture. It keeps me from feeling like a failure when accidents are normal!

Potty Training a Puppy

potty training a puppy will be easy for this smart dogs owner

Potty training a puppy? It can be a dirty job. If you are like most owners, you want to finish potty training a puppy as quickly as possible, certainly before the rugs are ruined and the house smells. Do not worry. If you are consistent, potty training a puppy will be fast and surprisingly painless.

Steps in Potty Training a Puppy

Potty training a puppy means you have to change your dog’s “go anywhere, anytime” habit to going when and where you want it to go. You do this by picking the target area, taking your puppy there frequently, and rewarding it with praise followed by play time when relieves itself at that spot. Expect to do repetitively since there is no shortcut.

How Long Does it Take to Potty Train a Puppy?

Every dog owner wants to know how long it will take to finish potty training a puppy. Depending on your availability and consistency, complete housebreaking might take less than a month. Potty training a puppy could also take six months or more if you don’t crate train it, or if you have to leave your puppy unattended frequently. Different breeds respond to training at varying rates. Don’t hold your breath, but keep working at potty training a puppy so you don’t have to hold your nose either.

I've seen this exact problem with my friend's lab! This is good to see a network that helps connect pet owners with the right diagnosticians.

Getting to the Bottom of a Mystery Ailment

Michele Milam lost count a long time ago of the number of times she’d taken her dog, Darby, to veterinarians.

The 7-year-old chocolate Labrador suffered from allergies and had been prescribed one medication after another. When the family moved from Detroit, Michigan, to Greenville, South Carolina, Darby’s problems only got worse. He was scratching and biting his skin raw.

“No one could diagnose him,” Milam says. “He just kept getting sicker and sicker.”

It broke the family’s heart to see the once healthy, happy and active dog turn sad and listless. Darby, Milam says, is the one everyone in the family turned to for comfort when they were feeling the stress of moving.

In September, a friend of Milam’s put her in touch with Best Friends member Judy Mische in California. Milam and Mische began corresponding via Facebook. Mische told Milam to contact Best Friends Animal Society to see if it could help.

Amplify’d from sugarcooking.blogspot.com

I first saw these cookies on Smitten Kitchen (one of my absolute favorite blogs, ever!) a year ago and I knew instantly that I had to make them. Since I've made them they've received comments such as "omg. she's gonna put oreo out of business" and "they taste just like oreos, only better."

The filling is a dead ringer for the oreo filling. The cookie is an improvement. It's soft and chewy (but still sturdy enough to stand up to all the filling) and a tad bit sweeter than the cookie part of an oreo. The original recipe calls for Dutch process cocoa but I used Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa. It's a mix of natural and dutch process. I think it was perfect for the job because it contributed to the dark, almost black color of the cookie which really resembles an Oreo.

11 Reasons You Won’t Get Published

Getting published as a creative writer is hard. Very hard. We all understand that. There are lots of wonderful, inspirational posts out on the ‘net detailing how to succeed. There are fewer devoted to the reasons why you won’t get published.

You want to be published. So do I. So does everyone. Most of us aren’t going to get there. You want to, though. But there are probably some weaknesses holding you back.

I’ve put together 11 of the biggest reasons why you won’t make it as a published writer. Read through them and check yourself for these behaviours. If you can resist all of these Devilish temptations like double-fried doughnuts while you’re on a diet, then you’re on your way to success.

being a writer

"A lot of people say they want to be a writer," begins Dante Shepherd in Lesson #864 - Writing Potential.

Imagination fills up when you observe, when you take in. Only then can I spew forth something a little offbeat, something the angst-filled artist-to-be in their lonely writer's garret doesn't have the capacity to do.

Dante makes a great point, and I will add this: You can't be a writer unless you write.
